- The New Residents Newsletter is a short document with some quick basic information on Eastgate that is helpful when you first move in.

- The Eastgate Compendium (based on the Cambridge Survival Guide) is an invaluable resource with information on where to shop, eat, and entertain your family with or without a car. To access the compendium, you must either be connecting from a computer on the MIT campus, or have an MIT certificate installed.
There are 3 email lists for Eastgate residents: eastgateinfo, eastgate-events, and eastgate.
- Important building and maintenance updates are sent to eastgateinfo (water shut-downs, etc.) so every resident of Eastgate should be on this mailing list. The student from your family whose name is on the lease will automatically have his/her email address added to eastgateinfo upon arrival. If you would like to add your spouse/partner to eastgateinfo, you can sign him/her up here.
- All events organized through the eastgate house government will be announced through eastgate-events. In addition, a weekly summary of other events around campus will be sent to this email list every Thursday. You can sign up for eastgate-events here.
- Eastgate is a mailing list that can be emailed by any of its members. This list is used informally for buying/selling furniture and baby items and other topics of general interest in Eastgate. You can sign up for eastgate here.

It is possible to sublet your apartment over IAP or the Summer Term. For details, see the MIT Housing Office Sublet Guide. Available sublets across the campus are listed here. You may also view & request sublets within Eastgate on the Eastgate Sublets Forum.
- The Graduate Student Office (GSO) advocates on behalf of graduate students. In particular, they provide counseling and/or conflict resolution for graduate students in extenuating circumstances that might require a temporary leave from school or another type of accommodation.
- The MIT Ombuds Office provides free, impartial, confidential advice for students who are in difficult situations of any type. The MIT ombudspersons are a good source of support for those in the MIT community who want to examine their options for dealing with a particular concern or who may wish to consider learning how to deal with problems directly on their own.
- The International Students Office (ISO) assists international students in their transition to living in the United States. They can also provide resources on visas and taxes.

- Maternity Leave: The GSO provides up to 2 months of paid maternity leave for graduate students, through MIT's Childbirth Accommodation Policy. For more information, read the FAQs. Applications can be accessed here.
- MIT's Center for Work, Family, and Personal Life can assist you in finding child care or school for your child(ren). They can also provide you with resources on parenting. Their website has a nice section on breastfeeding resources.
- Spouses&Partners@MIT is an organization that provides support for the spouses and significant others of MIT students, faculty, and staff. Their website has an extensive section on language resources for people learning English or another language.
- MIT FamilyNet allows you to search for other parents or families who have similar background or interests as yours, using criteria such as neighborhood, ages of children, languages spoken, services interested in (childcare exchange; nanny share; daycare or school carpool; playgroups). You can maintain a list of buddies with whom you can exchange private contact information, join interest groups, or start your own group, Participate in public forums and find out about interesting events and activities at MIT and in your groups.
- Grad Moms is a group for fulltime graduate students and postdocs who are mothers. A monthly lunch is held in the Margaret Cheney Room (3-310). Come share your stories, seek support, and connect with other graduate student and postdoc moms. Lunch dates are announced via gradmoms@mit.edu. Subscribe to their email list!
- Babyzone is a website with resources for parents with children of all ages.
- BostonCentral is a frequently-updated family-oriented website listing activities, resources and contacts targeted at parents and children.
