Wireless/Wired internet connection
Update to Eastgate wireless infrastructure
As you know, we have been in contact with the folks at IS&T and RCC regarding the wireless issues. Thank you to all of you who have been helping this issue by sending feedback to RCC.
Their latest plan involves a physical move of the wireless infrastructure. The people we have been in contact with have set up a page with updated information on the Eastgate Wireless issue and with a link for questions and feedback specifically for Eastgate. This page talks about the various problems, the solutions attempted, and the current plans. Please visit this page, read the information, and provide any questions you have as soon as you can.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
During the recent town hall meeting, we found that many residents are having trouble with the wireless or wired connections. While we have contacted RCC with this information, they have repeatedly told us, in the past, that it is best if any resident that has problems send a RCC
help request.
Also, using your own routers is against Eastgate and MITNet policy (http://bit.ly/lUmwdP, http://bit.ly/ioUgj0), and the reason, we are told, is that using your own routers will interfere with the other
MITNet connections. If you see other networks on your floors that are not MIT-related (MIT, MIT N, MIT SECURE, etc), RCC requests your help in identifying them, as this may help the MITNet connections.
Information on submitting a help request or on router detection is now up at: http://eastgate.mit.edu/wirelessinfo.php . Please submit requests if you are having internet connection problems.
Thank you,
- your ECC
