The Eastgate Community Association. Click here for more information.

Common Areas

Can the Eastgate grill area be reserved?
The grill area cannot be reserved. It is a shared community area.

How do I print to the Study Room Printer?
See the Facilities page for instructions.

Lounge

Can you waive the reservation fee for my event?
We cannot waive the fee for a private event. Revenue from lounge reservations is used to subsidize Eastgate events and programs open to all residents, and is relied upon for this purpose. If you are willing to open your event to the entire Eastgate community, you can apply for ECA sponsorship (which may include free or subsidized use of the lounge) - click here for more information.

Can you waive the late fee for my event?
No. The late fee is in place to encourage residents to reserve the lounge more than a week ahead of time, so that residents who wish to use it as a communal space can determine probable availability ahead of time. Reservations made less than one week in advance also require additional processing by the Treasurers.

Why can't I access the lounge calendar?
If you are receiving a message regarding "Error Code -12227", see below. The lounge reservation system is currently in its testing phase, and bugs may still be present. If you cannot access the calendar using the alternative link for users without MIT certificates, then please e-mail eastgate hyphen web [at] mit (dot) edu with a description of the problem.

Parking

How do I get a parking permit?

  • Click here to enter the MIT Parking website (MIT certificates required).
  • Click on Student Commuting.
  • Choose "I live in the following MIT residence" and select "Eastgate Apartments".
  • Enter your vehicle information and submit your application.
  • If you have a child, be sure to check the box indicating such on the online application.
  • Note: Eastgate has a limited number of parking spots and, once these run out, any additional requests will be given permits for the Westgate Lot (across campus).

Where does my parking permit allow me to park?

  • There are three lots for Eastgate residents: the Eastgate Lot, the Gated Hayward Lot, and the Medical Lot. Click here to view a map...
  • If you have an "F" on your sticker, park in the Eastgate Lot.
  • If you have an "R" on the sticker, park in the Gated Hayward Lot or the Medical Lot.

Am I eligible for an "F" permit?
You are eligible for an “F” permit (and can then park in the Eastgate Lot - see above) if you have a child or are at least 12 weeks pregnant. On the online parking application, there should be a box where you can check “I have a child”. At some point, housing will ask for verification of child or impending child – you can provide them with a birth certificiate, passport, or doctor’s note when they ask.

I just moved in to Eastgate - How do I get a parking spot?
Apply for your permit online following the procedure described above. Then ask the House Manager, Carla Bengtson (carlab [at] mit (dot) edu), for a temporary pass that lasts until September 15. On September 15, you will receive a permit that lasts for the remainder of the academic year.

Events

Who do I make checks payable to?
If you are paying for attendance to an ECA-sponsored event or a lounge reservation, please make checks payable to "MIT" and give the check to the event organizer in the case of events (see the relevant Event page for details on the organizer's location) or the Treasurer (Apt 10E) in the case of lounge reservations.
