Event Description

Current members reserve a bike here.

Members have access to:
* 3 mountain bikes and 2 road bikes (but only one at a time per member)
* 1 bike trailer suitable for carrying either 1 or 2 small children (max 50 lbs each)
* Bicycle helmets (including children's helmets)
* Bicycle Lights
* Maps of cycleways in surrounding area
* Tandem available now!!!

Membership costs just $10 and is valid for 12 calendar months.
(e.g. If you sign up on July 13, 2006 - your membership is valid until June 30, 2007)

Once enrolled, there are no fees for renting any of the equipment listed above.
You must reserve your bike(s) by noon the day before you want to borrow it/them by clicking here and rentals are subject to availability.
If you wish to use the child trailer, you must make your reservation at least 48 hours in advance, then contact eastgate hyphen bikerental [at] mit (dot) edu to arrange its collection.

After you register below, you will need to sign a liability waiver form (available here), pay the fee and provide a deposit (check) of $100 per person in order to complete your registration. The deposit check will need to be replaced after 6 months and will only be cashed in the instance that you damage or lose the bikes. After 6 months, the check will be destroyed, and you will have to replace it with a new one for the remainder of your membership. If loss or damage occurs by members with an expired security deposit, they are subject to charges on their student account to repair or replace damaged equipment, in addition to up to $100 in processing fees.

Non-members who are residents of Eastgate are able to rent bikes for $5 per bike per day (the trailer is available only to members), providing that a waiver is signed and a deposit is left for the duration of the rental. Reservations should be made as above.
Members may also rent additional bikes (beyond the one for him/herself) for $5 per bike per day.

All rentals are subject to availability. We request that you do not make reservations for more than three (3) specific dates in the future at any time to allow all members the opportunity to access the bikes.

Note:
The terms of rental are subject to change. Members will be notified of any changes that occur during the period in which they are registered.
