Eastgate Bicycle Registration

To park your bicycle in the storage room on the PH level you MUST complete ALL steps below

You should complete these steps for each bicycle you wish to store in the Bicycle Storage Room.
Bicycles must be registered in the name of the MIT student/employee. Multiple bicycles may be registered with one certificate.

Only bicycles are permitted in the Bicycle Storage Room. All other items will be removed. Note that the section of the railing covered in green/black tape is for Eastgate Rental Bicycles ONLY - Other bicycles parked in this area will be removed.

All bicycles stored in the Eastgate Bicycle Storage Room must be currently registered with Eastgate AND display an MIT Bicycle License sticker. Unregistered bicycles (including bicycles registered on or before June 30, 2011 that have not since been re-registered) may be removed without warning.

If you are awaiting the receipt of your license sticker from MIT Police, you may temporarily park your bicycle in the storage room, providing you complete the Temporary Bicycle Storage Request in Step 2 below. Following the receipt of your MIT license sticker, you must complete step 3 below. Bicycles with Temporary Storage Requests more than 4 weeks old will be treated as unregistered, and may be removed without further warning.

Bicycles registered with Eastgate between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012 may be parked in the storage room until August 31, 2012. If you wish to store your bicycle in this room after August 31, 2012 you must re-register with Eastgate between July 1, 2012 and August 31, 2012 by completing Step 3 below again. Step 1 (and optionally Step 2) needs to be completed only once per bicycle for your duration at MIT.

Step 1 - Register your bicycle with the MIT Police
Click here to register your bicycle with the MIT Police.

Registration is free and will greatly improve your chances of recovering your bicycle should it be lost or stolen. An MIT Bicycle License sticker also acts as a theft deterrent.

Note that although the processing is usually completed within a few days, please allow additional time for the license sticker to reach you via campus mail.

The MIT Bicycle License sticker must be clearly visible on your bicycle while it is parked in the bicycle storage room. Bicycles without a sticker or bicycles not registered with Eastgate (see Step 3) may be removed without notice.

Step 2 - Temporary Storage Request (Optional)
If you have registered your bicycle with MIT Police, but not yet received the MIT license sticker, you may park your bicycle in the storage room, providing you fully complete ALL the steps described on the Temporary Storage Request Form located here. You must complete Step 3 within 4 weeks of completing Step 2, or your bicycle will be considered unregistered and may be removed without further warning.

If you choose NOT to store your bicycle in the storage room until you have received your license sticker AND completed Step 3, then you may skip this step.

Step 3 - Complete the form below to register your bicycle with Eastgate
